ICACIT is an accrediting agency specialized in a professional training program in computer science, engineering and engineering technology. IEEE Industry Engagetment Committee – Región 9
The Region 9 Industry Committee was created to connect the Institute with the Latin American productive sector and attend to the needs of IEEE members who work or have interests in that sector. To do so, the Committee defined five strategic objectives: Mapping the industry in the Region; Identification of the needs of the Industry in the Region; Provision of services to the industry in the Region in local or regional events such as congresses or workshops; Promotion of diversity in the industry and; increase the visibility of the committee and its activities among the members of Region 9. The committee is made up of Roxana Saint-Nom (Chair), Christian Orellana (past Chair), Roxana Alfaro, Emmanuel López Neri, Juan Fernando Galindo (Members), Pía Torres and Luis Miguel Quevedo (Corresponding Members).
IEEE Industry Engagetment Committee – Región 9
The IEEE Nanotechnology Council focuses on the advancement and coordination of work in the field of Nanotechnology. The Council is a multi-disciplinary group whose purpose is to advance and coordinate work in the field of Nanotechnology carried out throughout the IEEE in scientific, literary and educational areas. The Council supports the theory, design, and development of nanotechnology and its scientific, engineering, and industrial applications. The Council sponsors well-recognized, international conferences and publications.
The IEEE Nanotechnology Council is part of Division I – Circuits and Devices and is made up of the representatives of 23 Member Societies and the ExCom members. The current list of these Societies scan be found on the About page.
IEEE Nanotechnology Council R9
Encourage the participation of the student branches and the professional members of IEEE R9, on the activities that IEEE NTC R9 can carry out per year. Said participation will focus on the training of volunteers who can see added value and recognition not only in the IEEE membership but also in that of the IEEE NTC Council for their professional and life training.
Implement advertising and outreach strategies of the IEEE NTC council in R9, in order to expand its mission and vision not only in the technical context and conference participation but also in the contribution of educational and social activities in our region.
Generate new technical and non-technical spaces with other dependencies of the IEEE R9 (Affinity Groups and Professional Chapters) that allow to establish working alliances in relation to the fields of interest that are linked to the academy, the government and in the future, with the Latin American industry.
WIN – Women in Energy SPE Sección Lima
Women In Energy (WIN) is an organization of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Lima Section, which brings together women linked to the Energy activity in its different stages. The organization was born with the objective of facilitating a space for integration and collaboration between professionals from the different specialties of the energy industry, promoting the leadership of women in the Society Petroleum Engineering to encourage greater participation in leadership positions both in Peru and in the rest of the countries of the region.

Scientific production in Peru and its higher education institutions are low in the South American region, due to multiple factors, but among them is that the educational system is not currently training the research capacities of students.

Fab Lab Lima
It was the first Fab Lab in South America, established in October 2010 at the initiative of the Center for Bits and Atoms (CB A) of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IaaC) and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development – AECID, who financed the implementation of the first Fab Lab in South America at the National University of Engineering, UNI-FAUA, Lima 2010.
